Chicago, Illinois, Location: Chicago, IL Job Description: Delivers and implements growth ideas and new distribution tactics to broaden the audience for the Universityâ™s flagship podcast, Big Brains. Works closely with the Media Relations team, Social Media team, News team, UChicago Creative, and other units to ensure the best promotion and distribution of stories and features. Identifies, incubates, and implements innovative communications approaches and digital technologies to foster a culture of learning and innovation within the department. Helps maintain a best-in-class MarTech stack by regularly evaluating and driving adoption of potential new tools and platforms. Serves as expert and manager of digital marketing tools, educating and enabling the communications department on digital marketing campaign best practices. Oversees a social media specialist who is responsible for creating and managing content, monitoring online channels, and helping drive engagement with the UChicago community. Conceptualizes, executes, and optimizes paid media campaigns to extend the reach of content within key digital and social media channels. Manages the Departmentâ™s measurement process by defining key performance metrics that are aligned with our communications goals and leading the reporting and optimization efforts. Develops, plans, and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization’s programs, accomplishments, or point of view. Makes contributions to the media interface, including writing press releases, planning and organizing media coverage for major events, and crafting responses to sensitive or controversial issues. Performs other related work as needed. Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelorâ™s degree. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing, social media, or a related field. Leading higher education institution. Launching and successfully growing a podcast. Managing social media platforms and monitoring tools. Managing team members and multi-channel communications projects. Technical Skills or Knowledge: Deep knowledge of social media best practices, digital paid media, and emerging content formats. Deep knowledge of digital marketing and social media measurement practices. Preferred Competencies Passion for creating best-in-class content, driving innovation, and trying new approaches. Evaluate and understand audience needs and develop tactics/strategies to reach target audiences. Strong ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team. Strong news judgment, superior writing and editing skills, and video production expertise. Understand and deliver against organizational priorities. Excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, mission-critical environment.
