Job Title: Assistant Vice PresidentMarketing and Digital Strategy Department: Brand Strategy Reports To: Managing VicePresident, Brand Strategy FLSA Status: Exempt Level: Sr. Director Location: HQ Position Overview: The National Association ofManufacturers (NAM) is seeking a standout, proven marketing leader and digitalinnovator to assume the role of Assistant Vice President of Marketing andDigital Strategy. The idealcandidate will dive into the role like a campaign manager. They will embracethe NAM’s mission, have a track record of leading high-performing teams toleverage data and develop strategy to direct enterprise-wide marketing anddigital strategy, possess the technical know-how to oversee a portfolio thatmanages and maintains the NAM’s digital infrastructure, including websites,email and social media channels, be willing to be a doer as much as astrategist and be an exceptionally strong communicator and team player. Plan and direct coordinatedmarketing and digital strategy in support of the NAM’s priorities, amplifyingthe NAM’s strengths, ensuring greater visibility of the NAM and reinforcing itsposition as the strongest voice and resource–the “one-stop shop”–formanufacturers in the United States. This includes overseeing theidentification, prioritization, and segmentation of key target audiences,leading a marketing and digital strategy group to a profound understanding oftheir audience segments and managing the constant use of data to inform brand,marketing and digital strategies to achieve awareness, attribution, engagement,preference and conversion. Define and drive a clearlyarticulated narrative arc that consistently positions the NAM as a one-stopshop for manufacturers. Drive efforts to continue tobuild and distinguish the NAM’s brand identity through all internal andexternal communications and marketing, including management of the NAM’sdigital platforms and social media channels, such as Facebook, Instagram,Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc. Have a deep understanding andknowledge of marketing requirements of all key stakeholders to successfully drivethe development of comprehensive marketing plans that enhance the NAM’s brandand achieve both short- and long-term objectives. Gain wide-ranging support andbuy-in for, and develop, a clearly defined, integrated, strategic marketingplan that protects and enhances the NAM’s brand, influence, reputation, memberretention and growth and preeminent position as a leading business advocacyassociation. Lead the creation and executionof essential collateral and materials/platforms that advance the NAM’smarketing and digital strategy. Continually foster and maintainstrong working relationships throughout the NAM to achieve marketing anddigital goals for all stakeholders. Establish the marketing anddigital strategy group as a credible, collaborative, client-service-orientedgroup whose contributions are well understood and widely respected throughoutthe association. Drive internal engagement andalignment to support marketing and digital initiatives among NAM team membersby developing a more proactive, transparent and collaborative approach tomarketing and digital strategy. Provide leadership, coaching andactive hands-on management for the marketing and digital strategy group toincrease the capabilities and improve its effectiveness. Manage web development vendorsand other digital platform or related agency resources to continueadding/improving digital functionality, follow UX best practices and builddrumbeats for our priorities. Aggressively evaluate thestructure and capabilities of the team against the goal of providing aproactive, client-focused resource for the association. Own fiscal responsibility for themarketing and digital strategy and develop and manage budgets and identifyopportunities for efficiencies across the association. Continually track and evaluatethe effectiveness of marketing and digital strategies on a continual basis. Keep up to speed with the latestdigital and technology trends, including social media. Thrive in a high-energy,fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position oversees the entire marketing and digital strategy group,consisting currently of 7 team members, including a Director of Data Science, aData Operations Analyst, two brand managers, an email marketing manager and twopositions focused on day-to-day brand digital execution. We are looking for Team Playerswho meet the Following Criteria: Qualified candidates will hold abachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5-10 years ofrelevant professional experience, Master’s degree or higher, in a relevant areaof study preferred. Relevant experience must include at least 3 years ofmanagement experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of theposition. Proven and collaborative leaderof marketers; adept at developing consensus with complex constituents who havemultiple agendas and opinions. Strong background in contentdevelopment and brand refinement (positioning and messaging), with the abilityto clearly define the process and delivery. Experience managing contentwithin a CRM, CMS and A/B testing platform, and working within or managing teamsutilizing Salesforce Marketing Cloud and WordPress. Experience successfully selectingand effectively managing external agency partners to deliver high-quality work. Significant paid and organicdigital and social media experience, across all platforms. Experience in effectively usinginteractive tools and social content to improve visitor engagement andinteraction, including strong working knowledge of SEO and social media Strong experience working withdesigners and other creative professionals within traditional and digitalplatforms. Demonstrated results working withand advising on high-level executives on marketing and digital strategy;politically astute. Success in developing andimplementing new processes, structures and systems, with an excellent trackrecord of managing budgets and in achieving financial goals and results. Ability to lead the developmentof overarching marketing and digital strategy and translate into actionable,successful campaigns. A compassionate, critical thinkerwho can quickly synthesize, categorize and prioritize information, data,multiple agendas, competing needs with a keen ability to discern the urgentfrom the routine and needs from desires. Problem-solver with the abilityto assess and grasp details quickly, and to move from listening to action andsolutions. Strong collaborative skills andhigh emotional intelligence. Able to maintain respectful andstrong relationships while challenging the status quo and leading innovativethinking and approaches. An effective communicator(written, visual and verbal) who inspires, shapes opinions, overcomesobjections and persuades others of vision and can articulate and evangelize theorganization mission. Overall ability to assessmarketing and digital talent and redeploy, direct, manage and development ahigh-performing, highly engaged team. An accomplished multi-tasker withthe ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously, while anticipatingthe future. Able to effect change in adynamic environment while being flexible and adaptive. Proactive, positive attitude,self-starter approach who can thrive in an start-up-type of environment and isable to roll up their sleeves to get work done. Desire to make an impact and takethe NAM brand to its highest level of success yet. Experience in a membership orpolitical campaign organization is a plus.
