Reporting to the IT Manager of Applications, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for analysing, programming, integrating, implementing and supporting in-house and 3rd party software applications. This position manages all phases of the business application implementation and support cycle. The incumbent will primarily support solutions that contribute to continuous improvement and/or improved financial results of the company. The incumbent works on procurement applications 50% of the time and general IT projects the remainder of the time. The Analyst drives continuous operational improvement across the entire company by working with users to drive best practices throughout each process. Data is used by all levels of management for controlling processes, equipment and quality to drive informed timely decisions. Responsibilities include: -Ongoing integration and support of applications that are used to manage manufacturing, supply chain, and quality information through automated connections to shop floor equipment using PI (OSI) or through manual input. -Various software modules from Epicor including the PI software system from OSISoft. PI interfaces to, acquires, archives, and serves data from multiple sources throughout the sawmill complex, including programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) and distributed control systems (DCS’s). The captured data is presented as a real-time time dashboard and also in static reports available on the corporate network. -Backup support for the Profit System and Intranet applications. Required Skills: ASP.NET, VB, C#, PowerBuilder, PowerBI, SQL, Sequel Server Reporting Services (SSRS), JavaScript The BSA spends most of their time in an office environment programming, troubleshooting, implementing, preparing reports and attending meetings. They also: – Actively supports and promotes safe work practices throughout the mill by being present at safety meetings and personally encouraging safe behaviour. – Responsible for certain business applications and supporting other analysts in the management of their applications. – Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade applications, hardware and software interfaces to support applications – Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define data processing needs. – Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current system. – Work with 3rd party support to develop specific solutions. – Write and maintain system documentation.
