University Marketing & Communications ( UW Advancement) has an outstanding opportunity for Digital Marketing Automation Specialist to join their team. Position Purpose The digital marketing automation specialist, working for University Marketing & Communications (UMAC) within University Advancement, supports efforts to secure resources for scholarships, fellowships and programs that enhance the Husky Experience — inside and outside the classroom — for all University of Washington students. By building and launching email marketing campaigns using marketing automation software, the specialist supports fundraising and alumni engagement across Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), which includes Student Life, Undergraduate Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, Enrollment Management, and the Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity. Together, these units impact the experience of every single UW student. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing Campaign Production The digital marketing automation specialist will create, launch and provide performance reports on email, event and engagement programs. This includes setting up A/B tests and complex audience logic, as well as troubleshooting technical and HTML code issues (in partnership, respectively, with Advancement’s Information Management team and UMAC’s front-end web developer). The work produced by this position supports the strategic priorities and opportunities defined by Advancement leaders within ASA and in accordance with industry best practices. This position will use UW data to build targeted lists and engagement streams with the goal of improving and maximizing engagement with the UW’s friends, alumni, donors, and other audiences and stakeholders. Analytics and Reporting This position will develop email campaign performance reports, conduct A/B tests, learn best practices for digital marketing data analytics, evaluate our audience engagement trends and gain insights to help continuously improve the UW’s digital marketing strategies. This position will be responsible for preparing and presenting email performance reports to both UMAC and ASA colleagues. Governance The complexity of the UW’s structure and involvement in marketing and communications creates the need for strict data governance and best practice reinforcement, using standards set by the UW’s marketing automation central governance team. This position will be expected to provide that reinforcement as directed by the director of digital engagement and digital marketing automation manager. Additional Duties In partnership with UMAC’s digital marketing automation manager, serve as a marketing automation and email marketing subject matter expert to marketing and communications leads and frontline fundraisers within ASA units (the Graduate School, Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity, Student Life and Undergraduate Academic Affairs) about how to improve the performance and sophistication of their email marketing efforts. Create event registration webpages via Cvent. Collaborate with Advancement Help Desk staff to troubleshoot root causes of technology issues, using a support ticket system to track resolutions. Help provide extra production support to ASA units experiencing staffing vacancies. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related area of study, or related work experience Two or more years’ experience in executing digital marketing and/or communications for an organization or brand Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Basic HTML coding experience, including the ability to successfully troubleshoot broken code. Experience with marketing automation software. Experience with A/B testing, analyzing performance metrics and contextualizing results for stakeholders. Experience with quality assurance review processes and strong attention to detail. Ability to work successfully and collaboratively with staff across ASA as well as in central Advancement teams. Commitment to a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Proficiency in using Marketo. Experience with executing digital fundraising appeals. Experience with event registration software. Familiarity with Jeto. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions. Flexible work options are also available. Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, as necessary.
