Evanston, Illinois, Department: Kellogg Brand & Marketing Salary/Grade: EXS/14 Job Summary: The Director of Digital Marketing is a strategic leadership role within the IMC team, responsible for overseeing the management/oversight of our Kellogg websites, digital marketing distribution for programs, engagement tactics, and digital media opportunities. Digital efforts are focused on communicating the top priorities of the school including brand development, marketing, social media, alumni relations, fundraising, recruitment, special events, and the student experience. The Director of Digital Marketing is a collaborator and a leader responsible for inspiring and managing a high-performing team of in-house, agency, and contract team members while developing and maintaining strong relationships with our partners and stakeholders. This lead role is the primary digital expert and owner of the long-term vision for digital marketing channels and arbiter of quality for digital-related initiatives which impact both the Kellogg brand and school revenue. Specific Responsibilities : Core Accountability Deeply understand and convey the organization’s vision, the school priorities, and opportunity to create lasting change for our audiences. Demonstrate strategic leadership: as a member of the IMC Leaders team, work with peers to set brand vision and integrated communication strategy Demonstrate collaboration: Collaborate, appreciate different ideas, seek them out and organize internal and external teams around shared goals and ensure the necessary stakeholders are engaged. Be a positive, trusted partner, brand ambassador, connector and leader across the Kellogg organization, extending to senior level stakeholders, alumni and faculty. Coordinate with team members to resource, scope efforts, review budgets and adhere to milestones and deadlines. Define the best practices and quality standards for the Kellogg brand, sharing and advocating them with internal stakeholders. Role Accountability Author of the strategic vision for the digital team and agency cross-functional teams on the development of digital marketing campaign concepts and strategies for internal stakeholders; be able to speak to the unique ways different digital strategies work within a campaign structure. Implement plan to build up the digital team as a center of excellence, elevating digital opportunity throughout the organization. Accountable for developing and executing our digital strategy across Kellogg platforms, including managing digital marketing, multimedia content, digital engagement, overall web development and driving social media engagement strategies, and leading the team to deliver world-class digital experiences. Responsible for comprehensive digital strategies which are directly tied to school revenue. Includes all aspects of the Kellogg digital presence including paid, earned, and owned touch points related to recruitment, reputation, media spend and alumni goals. Accountable for the development of new business opportunities including creating new customer interaction methods and lead generation not traditional for Kellogg. Utilize your strong business insight, intuition, and presentation skills to keep key partners and division leadership well-informed of progress and impact Accountable for being an internal trendsetter and innovator in emerging technologies, innovations, digital trends and evolving best practices, and identify where to implement them within our organization. Lead, mentor and inspire a team of front end developers and UX to create innovative digital experiences, achieve project and career goals, meet deadlines, build efficiencies without compromising the quality of work. Develop paid strategies and develop action plans with measurement and metrics baked in to continually optimize. Possess a deep understanding of analytical tools for social listening, ad tracking, websites, and app statistics (e.g., Google Analytics, Crimson Hexagon, Omniture, Adobe Analytics, comScore, MRI) and partnership with internal analytics teams. Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 8+ years of experience in emerging digital platforms, interactive marketing or digital platform management and leadership of teams. Bachelor’s degree required, with a concentration in communications, digital strategy, marketing, or related field. Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to engage with various audiences to make easy-to-understand presentations. Proven ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects concurrently, and pay close attention to detail and fact-checking. Must possess the ability to handle all phases of assigned projects from concept through final delivery. Ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing priorities, direction, and deadlines is essential. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team-environment. Ability to balance need for creativity with a data-driven approach to measuring impact and success. Proven success as a strong leader and manager of in-house and out-sourced teams. Ability to attract, develop and retain exceptional talent. Demonstrates ability to think creatively, solve problems, plan directions, overcome obstacles and successfully negotiate with individuals and groups is essential. Must possess the ability to handle all phases of assigned projects from concept through final delivery. Extensive experience with management/supervisory roles having successfully managed a team of marketing and digital communications professionals including the selection, training, supervision, guiding and evaluation of staff, and making appropriate corrective action when required. Preferred Qualifications: Agency experience – marketing, advertising, digital or public relations with digital strategy and paid media role. Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities) Proven digital expertise across a variety of technologies including coding, emerging and current platforms and content management systems. Technical understanding of website and digital development process (concept design, development, testing and deployment) Superior understanding and track record in interactive marketing, web marketing and/or ecommerce. In-depth knowledge in online customer experience (UX), search engine marketing and optimization, web analytics and technologies, digital media planning and content/social media management.
