Clayton, Missouri, Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary University Advancement at Washington University is seeking a talented, forward-thinking individual to join its Alumni and Constituent Engagement team as the Director of Marketing and Digital Communications. The Office of Alumni & Constituent Engagement (ACE) provides meaningful, personal, and sustained connections with alumni, parents, and friends to advance the mission of Washington University. Teams within ACE include Alumni Networks, Class and University Programs, and Alumni & Parents Admission Program The Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing marketing and digital communications activities for the Office of Alumni & Constituent Engagement and will collaborate closely with the Advancement Communications team. Reporting to the Executive Director, Alumni & Constituent Engagement, the Director will serve as a member of the ACE senior leadership team. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Create and manage a communications plan that supports the Alumni & Constituent Engagement strategic plan and follows the guidelines set forth by Advancement Communications.  Create a communications calendar and oversee management, governance, quality control, scheduling, and brand/style standards of Alumni and Constituent Engagementâ™s broadcast email efforts. Coordinate the scheduling of emails in consultation with colleagues in Advancement Communications and other University Advancement teams. Advise ACE directors on marketing and communications strategies for their programs, and ensure that efforts to promote individual programs and events align with ACE marketing and communications plan. Meet regularly with ACE directors to gain an understanding of their communication needs. Serve as the project manager for all communication needs within Alumni & Constituent Engagement. Create a system for ACE teams to request project support and assign work to a team of staff.  Serve as the teamâ™s primary liaison to Advancement Communications and to University Marketing and Communications. Ensure that ACE communications adhere to the universityâ™s branding and style protocols and maintain consistency with Advancement and university messaging. Lead and manage a minimum of three staff and oversee budget. Write and edit a wide range of material, including print materials, broadcast emails, reports, and presentations. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Three to five yearsâ™ experience in managing professional staff. Prior experience in a higher education (especially advancement) technology environment. Experience using AP Style. Experience using WordPress or similar. Experience managing social media strategy for an organization or business. Seven years of experience with interactive marketing, communications, and/or information technology, preferably in higher education or advancement. Experience in marketing/communications strategy. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to web standards, including web accessibility standards, and professionalism. Proficient with Microsoft Word and other standard office programs. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritize and self-manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated aptitude to quickly and effectively adapt to new circumstances and technologies. Ability to estimate resource needs. Strong desire to develop new knowledge and professional skills on a continual basis. Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external partners. Ability to work with only general supervision. Ability to think logically. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with colleagues at every level. Required Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree. Minimum of five years of related experience. Grade G14 Salary Range $70,300.00 – $120,000.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
