Overview

Paris, France

Context: Building ZebraZoom at the Wyart Lab:

The Wyart lab at the Paris Brain Institute performs research in neuroscience and biophysics in which the analysis of locomotor behavior plays a key role. This analysis of locomotion requires software to track the skeleton of the animal as it moves, to calculate kinematic parameters of motion and to apply advanced clustering algorithms. For this purpose, we have developed our own in-house software, ZebraZoom. Outside of the Wyart lab, ZebraZoom is also gaining popularity and has been used by research labs in Europe, North America, and Asia. We now plan to make Zebrazoom’s GUI more user-friendly, aesthetic and pleasant to use in order to facilitate the work of both Wyart lab team members and other scientists around the world.

Objective:

The new hire will need to build an improved GUI of ZebraZoom from the ground up, reshape the current version, add new features to it and potentially create a new installation method. S/he will work to make Zebrazoom’s GUI more user-friendly, robust, and aesthetic by working closely with researchers currently using ZebraZoom at the Wyart Lab.

  • Coding in Python
  • A passion for designing graphical user interfaces which are intuitive and easy to use
  • Previous experience in GUI design is not mandatory but would be a plus
  • An interest in biology and neuroscience research is also not mandatory but would be a plus
