Science Missions & Technology Division BD Director Title: Science Missions & Technology Division BD Director Responsibilities include the research and analysis of business opportunities, consistent with the organization’s long range and strategic plans. Evaluates projects through financial feasibility studies, market research, and planning. May assist with special studies in areas such as operational effectiveness, capacity utilization, or cost containment. With general autonomy, responsible for maintaining relationships with existing clients and developing new client contacts, typically at officer level and above. Provides leadership to plan, organize, manage, and continuously improve the business development process. Develops and implements tactical plans to achieve objectives of the strategic business plan. Responsible for ensuring the Strategic Account Management process is used and adhered to throughout the business development process. Serves as a liaison with other peers on cross-business unit opportunities. The skills required for this position are typically acquired through the completion of a technical degree and 20 years of experience that include 10 years of industry experience and 10 years of experience in business development. Serve as a business development lead and opportunity capture lead within KBR?s business department organization for the Space & Mission Solutions (SMS) business unit. Focus is on the Science Missions & Space Technology Division within SMS. Dual reporting to VP Business Development and VP Science Missions & Space Technology Division. Customers include a broad selection of civil and commercial space customers such as GSFC, JPL, KSC, AMES, JSC, GRC, and various large commercial support services providers. Promote relationships with industry, academia, FFRDCs, UARCs, and government laboratories as applicable for collaborative efforts supporting the civil space community. Solicit and glean advanced knowledge of civil space mission area needs, current systems, future requirements, and organizations to position KBR for pursuit of new contracts and customers. Plan, lead, and support client engagement activities to: ? Qualify and assess the ?win-ability? of new opportunities; ? Support the assigned capture manager in the capture and pricing strategy; ? Advise the core capture team in preparing a winning proposal (may include supporting color reviews and strategy sessions). As applicable, coordinate tasks requiring the talents of multiple KBR staff members and external participants, prepare pipeline plans, review contractual and fiscal aspects of proposed projects, teaming subcontractors and consultants that are working opportunities with KBR. Perform opportunity analyses, and interface with KBR leadership and organizations to ensure the timely delivery of winning proposals. Establish enterprise initiatives to leverage other KBR capabilities and Business Units. Provide input to Business Unit plans, strategies, and artifacts. Mentor business development managers, program managers, and other KBR employees undertaking customer engagement activities. Primary work location will be Greenbelt, MD with assigned customers based across the US. Approximately 20-40% of work time will be on travel to client locations. Minimum 15 years? experience with demonstrated success in business development and capture of contracts valued greater than $50M. Demonstrated ability to work with senior business and government leaders and to provide leadership within the workplace; demonstrated people management skills; excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills. Working knowledge of space and engineering support acquisition organizations. Experience developing account plans and capture plans for new business opportunities. Discipline(s): Business development, capture management, program management, science and engineering programs, civil space programs, acquisition processes, opportunity identification and qualification. ? Military, DoD, or civilian experience acquiring, fielding, or operating space, sensor, or ground support systems ? Demonstrable skills performing leadership roles in services-centric organizations ?
