Remote, Canada

Scalable Path is looking for a Senior Full-stack Python Developer to join the team and work on a client project. This is a remote, full-time position. The client is also open to candidates who are available part-time.

The client helps people write and share meaningful life stories with family and friends. Many of their customers describe us as the best gift they’ve ever given or received. The company launched publicly in 2013 and has grown into a thriving business with many people using their platform to share their stories. They are proud to be a successful company whose product adds real meaning to people’s lives.

A client of Scalable Path’s is looking for full-time, senior-level developers to contribute to the maintenance and new development of the software stack supporting their web- and email-based service. The tech stack is Python (Tornado), Mongo (on Atlas), and Heroku. Key partner APIs include Mailgun and Stripe. They currently use a fairly basic JS approach on the front-end, which they are looking to modernize. They take design seriously and implement pixel-perfect CSS (Tailwind with a well-documented design system).

The code base is well-maintained and has scaled nicely even through significant traffic growth. They are looking for skilled developers to help us pick up the pace of execution and to tackle pending projects with an increased degree of technical difficulty. They are a small, versatile team that collaborates closely on development and QA within a light process focused on iterating quickly.

The coming year will bring the launch of the new product lines alongside continued improvements to their successful core product. Day-to-day work will include:

  • Review of customer service reports to identify and address issues
  • Small tickets with bug fixes and feature enhancements.
  • Project work to implement new features to the existing product or to launch new product offerings
  • Discussions with designers and product owners to implement the right technical solution for the right business opportunity

You will report to the Director of Engineering. Key colleagues will include 1-2 other developers, designers, customer service lead, and the CEO (who serves as the product lead). The client is in the America/New York (-04:00) EDT time zone.

START DATE: As soon as possible.

The client’s goal is to find someone who will work with them long-term.
