This position will provide expertise in the maintenance of the OVR data bases. The incumbent will collaborate with other scientists and epidemiologists throughout MDH to develop longitudinal data analysis and reporting capability pertaining to the vital statistics of Minnesota populations. The position will provide expertise to the Minnesota Center for Health Statistics (MCHS) staff in analysis related to vital statistics data with particular focus on evaluation of health disparities and inequities. The position will assist or take the lead in preparation of research reports for publication and sharing the results with key stakeholders and the public. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor&39;s degree in epidemiology, economics, environmental health, psychology, health statistics or health services research or closely related field. AND Three years of professional experience in large dataset analysis and management with a variety of applications including: Needs assessments Program evaluation Research studies using primary or secondary database linkage efforts Data analysis and interpretation Management information systems or data collection Monitoring systems in health-related programs Experience analyzing health data through a health equity lens and ability to present findings to a diverse audience. A Master&39;s degree in one of the above areas will substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Master&39;s degree or PhD in epidemiology, economics, environmental health, psychology, health statistics or health services research or closely related field. Experience working with diverse communities. Strong working knowledge of SQL. Familiarity with the use of statistical packages such as SAS or STATA. Experience with data collection and cleanup, and analysis of birth and death records. Experience managing web-based databases. Experience with Business Intelligence Tools such as Tableau or Microsoft BI. Additional Requirements Successful completion of a background check.
