Clinical Data Engineer YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role, Clinical Data Engineer, are to: Understand complex clinical data end-to-end analysis pipeline to identify different data and data structure requirements along the pipeline; Design data structures and database systems that reflect data scientist’s, programmer’s and analyst’s needs; Implement data security features and clinical data standards according to internal standards and Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines; Ensure documentation of built systems are in accordance with legal requirements; Supervise database usage and adjust and scale systems according to usage; Guide costumers about effective database use; Explore recent developments in Relational Database Management System, big data, NoSQL, data warehouse and data lake technologies to make educated suggestions for further developments of clinical data systems; Contribute to drug research, the development of new drugs, the approval of new drugs by health authorities and the surveillance of marketed drugs according to the major tasks and responsibilities of the position (cf. sec. 3). More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: Master of Science in a relevant computational discipline (e.g., informatics, software development / engineering, computational science, data ware housing, data engineering, DB development) or a degree in life science (i.e., cancer biology, immunology, molecular biology) with at least three years of significant previous experience in computational science/data engineering or Ph.D. with at least two years of experience; Fluency in English; Capability of working independently and collaboratively; Demonstrated ability to prepare training materials such as use cases, user-manuals and formal presentations; Good knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry including the understanding of clinical drug development process and associated documents and regulations; Proven problem-solving capabilities to address complex issues independently and as a self-starter.
